Tim's Newsletter for 4 April

Dear all,
I trust you are all keeping well and staying safe. Today's news is about keeping connected though online worship. If you are in touch with church members on the phone who don't have or can't use the Internet, please do encourage them to look out for TV and radio programmes offering worship and reflection for Holy Week and Easter.
HERTFORD BENEFICE PALM SUNDAY SERVICE ( recorded using Zoom - safely from our own homes). Why not join in together at 10.00am on Sunday 5th!
Here is the link to the relevant page - click on the video link - the two hymns are on a separate link just below the video link on that page.
Attached below as a Word file is a reduced version of the service - you can print it onto a single A4 sheet if you use both sides.
Have a palm cross ready (home-made / last year's would be fine!) for the end of the service.
There's a virtual service of Holy Communion at 9am.

Christians are to be encouraged to make their own paper or card ‘palm’ crosses and display these in their windows in a national virtual church service for Palm Sunday to be broadcast by the Church of England.

The Bishop of Manchester, David Walker, will put a paper ‘palm’ cross in the window of his Salford home in a national service he will lead for Palm Sunday, marking the start of Holy Week and Easter.

The Holy Communion service, will be broadcast at 9am on the Church of England’s Facebook page,

Here's the link to the page - then click on the link to the service:      https://www.facebook.com/thechurchofengland

... with readings from the Archdeacon of Manchester, Karen Lund and prayers by Lucy Hargraves from St Peter’s Church in Bolton. All three record contributions from their own homes in keeping with the rules on physical distancing.

In his sermon, Bishop David will speak of the strength and mutual support from the crowd that he addressed in Manchester city centre following the Manchester Arena attack in 2017.

On Palm Sunday, 5th April, our bishops Alison (Hull), John (Selby) and Paul (Whitby) will again be offering short prayers at 12.00 noon, 4.00pm and 8.00pm, which you can join via Facebook (facebook.com/dioceseofyork), Twitter (twitter.com/dioceseofyork) or Vimeo (vimeo.com/dioceseofyork). If you can't make the exact time, you can still watch the recording later.
If you need help, especially by way of shopping please do get in touch with me. Or, if you just want to have a chat (or to pray together over the phone) please feel free to call me. Tel. 01723 448351
If for any reason you prefer not to be included on this mailing please just send me an email and I will remove yours from the list. Many thanks.
Every blessing,

Revd Tim Parker
