Vicar's Newsletter for 29th November

Dear all,

The Tier 2 status for the whole of the benefice starting on Thursday 3rd December was confirmed today. Thankfully, our collective worship can recommence on Sunday 6th December. Please see below the provisional details for December services in our churches.

Please do get in touch with me if you have any questions or just to have a chat.

Prerecorded Audio  Service on Sunday 29th November:  The First Sunday of Advent
This will enable you to participate in our prerecorded live AUDIO service (like a radio service). It was recorded on Tuesday. You will also find a Word file attached with the hymn lyrics.
Here is the All Saints Hunmanby website link in blue for Sunday morning - The service will be available anytime on Sunday.

SUNDAY 29th November AUDIO SERVICE -   You will find the service in two or three parts and no need to search for worship songs as these are already included in the service.

CALL TO PRAY FOR THE NATION

National Call to Prayer: the Archbishops of York and Canterbury and a number of other senior church leaders are inviting Christians across the nation to participate in the month of prayer during this second lockdown in England. Throughout the next month, we are encouraged to pray daily for a specific area of national concern, wherever we may be, culminating into a collective moment of prayer at 6.00pm each evening, with cathedrals and churches across the country invited to ring a bell (just one) at this time.

We are encouraged to follow a simple seven-day prayer cycle, praying for a specific area each day including the NHS and frontline workers, the bereaved, and those struggling with physical and mental ill-health, and for children and young people.

A selection of resources have been made available to guide our prayer during this period. You can find the material and further information about the invitation at www.churchofengland.org/PrayerForTheNation.

Please find here a link to the Archbishops' resources for praying for our nation at 6pm each day through these difficult times.

A reminder that names of those attending collective worship must be recorded and kept for 21 days for the Test and Trace system. Face coverings are now required by law to be worn in places of worship. Congregational singing is still not permitted.

HOLY COMMUNION
Please note that Holy Communion will only be received by the congregation in one kind (bread/wafer only). You are asked to follow the direction of a churchwarden/sidesperson and when you receive please return to your seat before removing your face covering to consume. Communion will be administered whilst standing. Kneeling at the communion rail is suspended.

PRIVATE PRAYER IN ST. NICHOLAS' CHURCH FOR GANTON PARISHIONERS
During the forthcoming lockdown from Thursday churchwarden Venetia Wrigley has kindly offered to open up St. Nicholas Church for private prayer by appointment at a time convenient to both parties. Venetia explains: "I will open the church 10 minutes before the appointed time, wipe down the door handle, ensure that a pew is wiped ready, leave the church, wait in my car until the prayer session is over and then return to church and wipe everything down again including the door handle and relock the building."
If you would like to avail yourself of this offer, please call Venetia on her mobile no.  07773 217372

ADVENT WORSHIP ON WEDNESDAYS
If the lockdown ends on 2nd December as hoped, we are planning to hold some reflective Advent Worship in All Saints Church on Wednesdays 9th and 16th December at 7.00pm. This will include a mix of live and recorded worship (no congregational singing), Bible readings, testimony, and reflective videos and prayer.

GIVING AT ALL SAINTS HUNMANBY
During these difficult times for the economy our bank for All Saints Hunmanby (we have an account with CAF Bank) is raising its bank charges from 4th January 2021. Due to the generous giving of the congregation, this increase is going to affect us considerably. Up till now we have only paid £60 in bank charges each year. Because of the way we have to pay into the bank using cheques and cash these charges could rise to as much as £600. So my appeal to you is that if at all possible we would be most grateful please if you could transfer your cheque or cash giving to Direct Debit. This does not have to be monthly (it could be quarterly or annual) and can be altered or cancelled at any time. Setting up a Direct Debit is a simple procedure. For more information please speak with our PCC Treasurer, Jennifer Copeman, on 01723 891831  Many thanks. And thank you again to those of you who have already kindly set up a DD this year.
Here is the necessary information to set up a DD for
All Saints Church Hunmanby PCC:
Sort Code: 40-52-40      Acc. no. 00009881
If you do set up a DD can you please inform Jennifer. Thank you.

SPRING CAFE CLOSED
Due to government guidance in lockdown 2 the Spring Cafe is now closed and will open again on 4th January 2021, all being well.
