Vicar's newsletter for 11th April

Dear all,
We in the Hertford Benefice extend our deepest sympathy to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family on the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip.
The Church of England has opened an online condolence book following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. Here is the link.
The Government has advised that in order to observe current Covid-19 precautions, physical condolence books should not be offered at this time.
Bishop of Whitby Paul Ferguson offers a Reflection for Sunday 11th April, revised in the light of the death of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

Every week, the Diocese of York offers a reflection and prayer resource on video, for churches to use in their Sunday worship, either online or in church as we return to our buildings.
Find the video on the Diocese of York website or at
Four of the benefice churches have services on Sunday. Details below.

A reminder that names of those attending collective worship must be recorded and kept for 21 days for the Test and Trace system. Face coverings are now required by law to be worn in places of worship. Congregational singing is still not permitted.

God our loving Father, you have called your Church into being in your love and strengthened us for your service. Guide and inspire us as we seek to re-shape our approach to mission and ministry in our diocese; that we may be a joyful Church of missionary disciples, one in heart and mind; for the sake of your kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

During this latest lockdown churchwarden Venetia Wrigley has kindly offered to open up St. Nicholas Church for private prayer by appointment at a time convenient to both parties. Venetia explains: "I will open the church 10 minutes before the appointed time, wipe down the door handle, ensure that a pew is wiped ready, leave the church, wait in my car until the prayer session is over and then return to church and wipe everything down again including the door handle and relock the building."
If you would like to avail yourself of this offer, please call Venetia on her mobile no.  07773 217372
The Rainbow Centre in Scarborough has sent out an urgent request for men's t-shirts please. There will be a bin in the church porch at Hunmanby for their collection at Sunday worship times. Or please contact Joy Ossai for more information.
Foil-lined crisp packet collections continue. The bin is on the Stonegate side of the Spring Cafe.
If for any reason you prefer not to be included in this mailing please just send me an email and I will remove yours from the list. Many thanks.
Every blessing,

Revd Tim Parker
